2017 Expedition Dates to Greece:
- April 16 – 26, 2017
Over one million refugees have traveled through Greece in the last year, fleeing war torn countries in hopes of finding a better life. Unfortunately many of these refugees are now stuck in Greece because of recent boarder closings, with an estimated 50,000 refugees spread throughout camps in the mainland and off-shore islands.
Hope Worldwide Utah will be guiding a group of volunteers back to Greece, April 16-26 and will combine forces with other non-profits there on the ground to support several refugee camps around the Athens area.
The conditions in Greece are highly dynamic and often planned daily activities in the refugee camps can change or re-prioritize for more pressing matters. Because of the unique conditions volunteers must be at least 25 years of age, flexible, resilient, team oriented, able to work an 8 hour day, pass a background check and lift up to 20 pounds. We also require a phone or skype interview prior to joining the expedition. Fees are $1,250 plus airfare and cover all lodging, transportation (rental cars, gas, tolls), a mandatory background check, all meals and daily snacks.
A deposit of $400 is required to reserve your spot on our November trip. Pay using the link below or at the bottom of the page. If you are interested in joining us on this trip please read the Trip Details Page above and fill out a Volunteer Application Form and we will email you additional information regarding the expedition.
If you are unable to make this trip, don’t worry, we’ll be organizing another group to return in 2017. Join our Facebook Group and Page to stay updated about future trips!
Donate! We are also collecting donations of new bras and underwear for the 700 residents of the Oinofyta refugee camp, where they are greatly needed (40% of which are children). Can you imagine not even having basic necessities like under garments? Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in helping us gather these donations.
